Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Broccoli
Clock

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers, crushed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 (14.5-oz) can beef broth

Instructions

  1. Combine beef and Worcestershire sauce; shape into 6 patties. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Place crushed crackers in a shallow bowl. Whisk together milk and egg in a second shallow bowl.
  3. Dredge patties in crackers to coat. Dip in milk mixture, and dredge in crackers again, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Cook patties in hot oil in a large skillet over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes per side or until deep golden brown. Drain on a paper towel-lined wire rack; keep warm.
  5. Drain drippings from skillet, reserving 3 Tbsp drippings in skillet. Add onions to skillet, and cook over medium heat, stirring often, until very tender.
  6. Add flour; cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes. Gradually stir in broth, and cook until thickened and bubbly. Serve gravy over patties.
