Chicken-Fried Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy
Mashed Potatoes and Roasted BroccoliIngredients
- 2 lb ground beef
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 sleeve saltine crackers, crushed
- ½ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 (14.5-oz) can beef broth
Instructions
- Combine beef and Worcestershire sauce; shape into 6 patties. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Place crushed crackers in a shallow bowl. Whisk together milk and egg in a second shallow bowl.
- Dredge patties in crackers to coat. Dip in milk mixture, and dredge in crackers again, pressing gently to adhere.
- Cook patties in hot oil in a large skillet over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes per side or until deep golden brown. Drain on a paper towel-lined wire rack; keep warm.
- Drain drippings from skillet, reserving 3 Tbsp drippings in skillet. Add onions to skillet, and cook over medium heat, stirring often, until very tender.
- Add flour; cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes. Gradually stir in broth, and cook until thickened and bubbly. Serve gravy over patties.

- 1 (8-oz) pkg homestyle mashed potatoes
- 1 head broccoli, cut into spears
- 2 Tbsp olive oil

- Cook potatoes according to package directions.
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Toss together broccoli and oil on a rimmed baking sheet. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Bake 10 minutes or until browned and tender.
