Caramelized Onion and Bacon Burgers
Apple-Broccoli SaladIngredients
- 12 slices bacon
- 4 Tbsp butter, softened and divided
- 2 red onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 6 slices Cheddar cheese
- 6 hamburger buns, split
Instructions
- Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp; drain. Meanwhile, melt 2 Tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add onions, and cook, stirring occasionally, 20 minutes or until tender and golden. Stir in barbecue sauce.
- Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Combine beef, garlic salt, and pepper; shape into 6 patties. Grill patties, covered, 5 to 6 minutes per side or until no longer pink in centers. Top with bacon and cheese; grill 1 minute longer or until cheese is melted.
- Spread 2 Tbsp butter on cut sides of buns. Grill 1 to 2 minutes or until toasted. Pile onion mixture on bottom buns. Serve burgers on buns.

- 2½ Tbsp sugar
- 6 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 head broccoli, chopped
- 2 apples, chopped
- ¼ cup chopped onion
Side Dish Instructions
- Combine sugar, vinegar, mustard, and oil in a bowl. Add broccoli, apples, and onion; toss. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
