Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 1½ cups butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 2½ cups all purpose flour
- ¾ cup bread flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 (12-oz) bag semi sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook 5 to 8 minutes or until butter turns deep golden brown and smells nutty, stirring occasionally. Pour into a large bowl; cool 30 minutes.
- Add sugars to cooled butter and beat at medium speed with a mixer until blended. Beat in eggs and egg yolks, one at a time, until mixture is fluffy. Beat in vanilla .
- Whisk together flours, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating until blended. Beat in chocolate chips.
- Shape dough into 2-inch balls and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Cover, and refrigerate dough 1 hour or up to 3 days.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Place dough balls 2 inches apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets. Bake 11 to 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Let cool on pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
- Store cookies in airtight containers up to 1 week.
