Seared Steak with Honey-Soy Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 2 Tbsp less sodium soy sauce
  • 1½ tsp cornstarch
  • 1½ tsp honey
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 lb flank steak, trimmed
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • ½ Tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Bring water, soy sauce, cornstarch, honey, and garlic to a boil in a small saucepan; cook 1 minute or until sauce is thickened. Remove from heat. Divide mixture in half; set aside half for Roasted Cashew Vegetables recipe.
  2. Season beef with pepper; drizzle with half of remaining Honey-Soy Sauce. Cook beef in hot oil in a skillet over medium-high heat 3 to 4 minutes per side or to desired doneness. Let stand 10 minutes before thinly slicing across the grain.
  3. Drizzle with remaining Honey-Soy Sauce.



Side Dish Ingredients

  • 1¼ cups broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • Reserved Honey Soy Sauce
  • ½ cup unsalted cashews

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Bake 8 to 12 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F. Spread broccoli, peppers, and nuts in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet. Pour reserved Honey-Soy Sauce over vegetables; toss.
