Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1½ lb ground round
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 (28-oz) can organic whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
- 2 (8-oz) cans organic tomato sauce
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- ¾ tsp salt
- ¾ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Cook onion and beef in hot oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until onion is tender and beef is browned and crumbly.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, and cumin. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes. Top with cilantro.
Side Dish Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 (16-oz) loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
- ½ tsp pepper
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp dried oregano
Side Dish Instructions
- Bake 10 minutes or until toasted.
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine oil, garlic, oregano, and pepper in a small bowl; brush onto cut sides of bread. Place bread on a baking sheet.
