Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1½ lb ground round
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 (28-oz) can organic whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
  • 2 (8-oz) cans organic tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Cook onion and beef in hot oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until onion is tender and beef is browned and crumbly.
  2. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, and cumin. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes. Top with cilantro.



Side Dish Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 (16-oz) loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp dried oregano

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Bake 10 minutes or until toasted.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine oil, garlic, oregano, and pepper in a small bowl; brush onto cut sides of bread. Place bread on a baking sheet.
