Apple Scones with Caramel Butter

Ingredients
- 2¼ cups all purpose flour
- ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 5 Tbsp cold butter, cubed
- 4 oz cream cheese, cubed
- 1 cup finely chopped peeled Pink Lady apple
- ⅔ cup heavy cream
- 1 large egg
- 2 Tbsp turbinado sugar
- 1 cup caramel topping, warmed
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cut in butter and cream cheese using a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Stir in chopped apple.
- Whisk together cream and egg; add to flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface; pat into an 8-inch circle. Cut dough into 8 wedges. Place scones on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
- Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheet 15 minutes; remove to a wire rack.
- Whisk together caramel sauce and powdered sugar until smooth. Drizzle over warm scones.
