Ingredients

  • ½ cup plus 6 Tbsp butter, softened and divided
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar, divided
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pure pumpkin
  • 3¼ cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F; coat a 13-x 9-inch baking dish with baking spray with flour.
  2. Beat ½ cup butter, 1 cup sugar, and ¼ cup brown sugar at medium speed with a mixer until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating just until combined after each addition. Stir in pumpkin.
  3. Stir together 2½ cups flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Gradually add to butter mixture, alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture, beating just until blended after each addition.
  4. Stir in syrup. Spoon mixture into prepared pan.
  5. Stir together remaining ¾ cup brown sugar and ¾ cup flour in a bowl. Cut in 6 Tbsp butter with a pastry blender or a fork until mixture is crumbly; stir in walnuts.
  6. Sprinkle mixture over batter in pan, and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool 30 minutes before cutting.
