Sausage and Pasta with Fire-Roasted Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 (12-oz) pkg bow tie pasta
  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp bottled minced garlic
  • 2 (14-oz) cans fire roasted diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced fresh basil
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 (5-oz) container shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare pasta according to pkg directions; drain and return to pan.
  2. Meanwhile, cook sausage, onion, and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbly; drain and return to skillet.
  3. Stir in tomatoes and cream; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 7 to 8 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Add tomato mixture, basil and red pepper to pasta and toss. Sprinkle with cheese and serve immediately.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 1 (16-oz) bag frozen green beans
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 (12-oz) loaf frozen garlic bread

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Cook green beans according to package directions. Add butter; season to taste with salt and pepper.
  2. Bake bread according to package directions.
