French Grilled Cheese Sandwiches (Croque Monsieur)
Green Bean Salad
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 12 slices fresh French bread
- 1 (9-oz) pkg sliced deli ham
- 1 (8-oz) block Swiss cheese, shredded
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- Stir together mustard and mayonnaise. Spread over 1 side of each bread slice.
- Top half of bread with ham and cheese; cover with remaining slices of bread, mustard sides down.
- Whisk together eggs and milk.
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat; add 1 Tbsp vegetable oil for each batch as you cook sandwiches.
- Dip sandwiches, 1 at a time, in egg mixture; add to skillet. Cook 3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
Side Dish Ingredients
- 1 (16-oz) pkg frozen green beans
- ½ (10.5-oz) pkg grape tomatoes, halved
- ½ cup thinly sliced red onion
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp dried basil
Side Dish Instructions
- Steam green beans according to package directions.
- Rinse under cold water, and drain well. Cut beans into 1-inch pieces, if desired.
- Stir together beans, tomatoes, onion, oil, vinegar, oregano, and basil in a bowl. Season to taste.
