Bacon-Apple Turkey Burgers
Sweet Potato WedgesIngredients
- 6 slices bacon
- ¼ cup finely chopped onion
- 1 red apple, peeled and finely chopped
- ¾ tsp garlic salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 2 lb ground turkey
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh basil
- 6 hamburger buns, toasted
Instructions
- Cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat 5 minutes or until crisp; drain, reserving drippings in skillet.
- Finely crumble bacon.
- Sauté onion, apple, garlic salt and pepper in hot drippings 7 minutes or until apple is soft; remove from heat, and cool.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- Combine ground turkey, basil, onion mixture and bacon in a bowl; shape into 10 (½-inch-thick) patties.
- Place patties on a grill rack coated with cooking spray.
- Grill patties, covered with grill lid, 5 to 6 minutes per side or until centers are no longer pink.
- Serve 6 patties on buns with desired condiments. Reserve remaining patties for another meal.
Side Dish Ingredients
- 4 sweet potatoes, peeled
- 2 egg whites
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
Side Dish Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Coat 2 large baking sheets with cooking spray.
- Slice each potato into 12 wedges.
- Lightly beat egg whites, ginger, cinnamon, and salt until foamy.
- Add potatoes, and toss to completely coat; arrange in a single layer on baking sheets.
- Bake 20 minutes; turn wedges, and bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until tender and browned.
