Grilled Ground Beef-Chorizo Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb raw chorizo sausage
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • Curly leaf lettuce
  • 2 medium-size tomatoes, thickly sliced
  • Small dill pickles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Combine ground beef, chorizo, onion, garlic, salt and pepper in a large bowl; mix just until blended.
  3. Shape beef mixture into 6 patties. Place on a grill rack rubbed with oil.
  4. Grill 5 minutes per side or until done.
  5. Assemble burgers with sliced tomato (as the bun), lettuce and patties; garnish with pickles, if desired.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 2 lb potatoes, sliced into fries
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 2 (15-oz) cans Ranch-style beans

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Toss fries with egg whites and place on sprayed baking pan in a single layer if possible.
  3. Sprinkle with seasoned salt. Bake 30 minutes.
  4. Heat beans to serve on the side.
