Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp salted butter
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 8 slices thick-sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1½ Tbsp Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 (8-oz) carton sharp Cheddar pub cheese, softened
  • 18 miniature pretzel buns, halved
  • ½ (12-oz) bottle whole-grain mustard
  • 3 cups arugula

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add onions, and cook, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes. Cover, and cook, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes or until very tender .
  2. Uncover, increase heat to medium-high, and cook, stirring frequently, 15 minutes or until onions are caramel colored. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Meanwhile, stir together beef, bacon, and seasoning. Shape into 18 small patties. Cook patties in a large skillet over medium heat  4 to 5 minutes per  side or until no longer pink.
  4. Top each patty with pub cheese, and let stand 1 minute or until cheese begins to melt.
  5. Serve patties on buns with mustard, arugula, and caramelized onions.
