Peppery Steak with Creamy Mushrooms
Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes and Steamed BroccoliIngredients
- 1½ lb top sirloin
- ¾ tsp salt, divided
- ½ tsp pepper, divided
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 1 (16-oz) pkg sliced mushrooms
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ¾ cup half-and-half
- 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat broiler. Rub steak with ½ tsp salt and ¼ tsp pepper; place on a greased broiler pan. Broil 3 to 5 minutes; turn and broil 3 to 5 minutes longer.
- Meanwhile, melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, garlic, oregano, and ¼ tsp each salt and pepper; sauté 5 minutes or until mushrooms are browned and tender.
- Whisk together half-and-half and flour; add to skillet. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
- Slice steak, and serve with sauce.

- 1 (24-oz) pkg frozen steam-and-mash potatoes
- 1 (8-oz) carton reduced-fat sour cream
- ½ tsp salt, divided
- ½ tsp pepper, divided
- 2 (12-oz) pkg broccoli florets
Side Dish Instructions
- Cook potatoes according to package directions; stir in sour cream and ¼ tsp each salt and pepper.
- Microwave broccoli according to package directions; transfer to a bowl. Stir in ¼ tsp each salt and pepper.
