Peppery Steak with Creamy Mushrooms

Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Broccoli

Ingredients

  • 1½ lb top sirloin
  • ¾ tsp salt, divided
  • ½ tsp pepper, divided
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 (16-oz) pkg sliced mushrooms
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¾ cup half-and-half
  • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat broiler. Rub steak with ½ tsp salt and ¼ tsp pepper; place on a greased broiler pan. Broil 3 to 5 minutes; turn and broil 3 to 5 minutes longer.
  2. Meanwhile, melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, garlic, oregano, and ¼ tsp each salt and pepper; sauté 5 minutes or until mushrooms are browned and tender.
  3. Whisk together half-and-half and flour; add to skillet. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
  4. Slice steak, and serve with sauce.

  • 1 (24-oz) pkg frozen steam-and-mash potatoes
  • 1 (8-oz) carton reduced-fat sour cream
  • ½ tsp salt, divided
  • ½ tsp pepper, divided
  • 2 (12-oz) pkg broccoli florets

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Cook potatoes according to package directions; stir in sour cream and ¼ tsp each salt and pepper.
  2. Microwave broccoli according to package directions; transfer to a bowl. Stir in ¼ tsp each salt and pepper.
