Shortcut Skillet Calzone
Winter Fruit BowlIngredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp Greek seasoning (such as Cavender's)
- 1 (9-oz) pkg frozen creamed spinach
- 1 (16-oz) ball bakery pizza dough (or use 1 [15-oz] pkg already-rolled-out pizza dough)
- 1 (24-oz) jar marinara sauce, divided
- 1 (8-oz) pkg shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 Tbsp butter, melted (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Cook beef, bell pepper, garlic salt, and Greek seasoning in a 9-inch cast-iron skillet over medium heat until beef is browned and crumbly. Drain and transfer beef mixture to a bowl. Wipe skillet clean, and lightly grease skillet.
- Meanwhile, cook spinach according to package directions. Stir into beef mixture.
- Divide dough in half. Stretch half of dough on bottom and up sides of skillet. Spread ½ cup marinara over dough. Top with meat mixture; sprinkle with cheese.
- Top with remaining dough. Crimp edges of dough together. Cut 3 slits in top (or cut decorative shapes or small holes). Coat top with olive oil cooking spray or brush with butter.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Serve with remaining marinara sauce.
Side Dish Ingredients
- ½ lemon
- 2 tsp water
- 1 tsp sugar (or use honey)
- 2 apples, chopped
- 2 pears, chopped
- ¼ cup dried apricots, chopped
- ¼ cup raisins (or use dried cranberries)
Side Dish Instructions
- Squeeze lemon into a bowl; add water and sugar. Add apples and pears; toss. Stir in dried fruit.
