Crispy Onion Rings with Kicked-Up Ketchup
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ lb ground sausage
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5-oz) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 (8-oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 6 sub rolls, split
- 1 (8-oz) pkg sliced mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Cook beef, sausage, bell pepper, onion, and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat until beef is browned and crumbly; drain and return to skillet.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, vinegar, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.
- Line rolls with cheese, tearing to fit, if necessary; fill with meat mixture.
Side Dish Ingredients
- 1 (16-oz) pkg frozen onion rings
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tsp Sriracha hot sauce
Side Dish Instructions
- Bake onion rings according to package directions.
- Whisk together ketchup and hot sauce. Serve with onion rings.
