Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Ingredients

  • ½ (12-oz) can or bottle chile sauce
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 4 oz grape jelly
  • ½ lb lean ground beef
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ large onion, grated
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the chili sauce, lemon juice and grape jelly. Pour into slow cooker and simmer over low heat until warm.
  2. Combine ground beef, egg, onion and salt. Mix well and form into 1 inch balls. Add to sauce and simmer for 1½ hours.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp and 1¼ tsp butter
  • ½ cup and 2 Tbsp uncooked orzo pasta
  • ½ cup and 2 Tbsp long-grain white rice
  • 1¼ cubes chicken bouillon
  • 2⅓ cups and 1 Tbsp water

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large heavy saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; add orzo and brown until golden.
  3. Add rice, bouillon, and water; bring to a boil, cover and lower heat to medium-low.
  4. Simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes or until all water is absorbed; serve.
