Green Chile Cheeseburgers
Crispy Tortilla ChipsIngredients
- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 Tbsp ground cumin
- 1 onion, cut into ¼-inch-thick slices
- 1 (8-oz) pkg sliced Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 (7-oz) can diced green chiles
- 3 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
- 6 hamburger buns, split
- ½ head iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 2 Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Stir together beef and cumin. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Shape into 6 patties.
- Grill patties, covered, 5 to 6 minutes per side or until no longer pink. Grill onion, covered, 4 to 5 minutes per side or until charred and tender. Top burgers with cheese, and let stand 1 minute or until cheese is melted.
- Coarsely chop onions. Stir together onions, chiles, and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve burgers on buns with lettuce, tomatoes, and desired amount of chile mixture.
