Cube Steak with Bell Pepper-Onion Gravy
Steamed Rice
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1½ lb cube steaks
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- ½ onion, sliced
- ½ cup sliced celery
- 1 (0.87-oz) pkg brown gravy mix
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Cook steak in hot oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat 1 to 2 minutes per side or until lightly browned. Remove from pan.
- Spread half of peppers, onion, and celery on bottom of a lightly greased 3- to 4-quart slow cooker; top with steak and remaining vegetables.
- Whisk together gravy mix and 1 cup cold water; pour over pepper mixture.
- Cover and cook on LOW 8 to 9 hours or until steaks are tender.
- (Reserve 2 steaks and ½ cup peppers and onions for Steak, Bell Pepper and Onion Hoagies recipe.) Serve remaining steak and peppers mixture over rice.
