Smothered Hamburger Steaks

Steamed Rice and Buttery Peas

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp Montreal steak seasoning
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 1 (20-oz) pkg frozen peppers and onion blend
  • 1 (14.5-oz) can petite diced tomatoes with garlic and olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried basil

Instructions

  1. Combine beef and seasoning; shape mixture into 6 patties. Dredge patties in flour to coat.
  2. Cook patties in 2 Tbsp hot oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat 3 to 4 minutes per side or until browned. Remove patties from skillet; wipe skillet clean.
  3. Cook peppers and onion blend in 1 Tbsp hot oil in skillet over medium heat until tender. Stir in tomatoes, vinegar, and basil. Return patties to skillet, and cook 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 1½ cups long-grain white rice
  • 1 (12-oz) pkg frozen green peas
  • 2 Tbsp butter

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Cook rice according to package directions.
  2. Steam peas according to package directions; toss with butter, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
