Grilled Hawaiian Burgers
Strawberry-Pineapple Smoothies
Ingredients
- ¼ lb lean ground beef
- ¼ lb lean ground pork (or use all lean ground beef)
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- ½ tsp minced garlic
- ¼ tsp salt, divided
- ¼ tsp pepper, divided
- ½ red onion, cut into ¼-inch-thick slices
- ¼ peeled pineapple, cut into 2 slices
- 1 avocado, mashed
- 2 tsp chopped fresh cilantro
- ½ Tbsp fresh lime juice
- 2 oz thinly sliced nitrite-free ham
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Stir together beef, pork, ginger, and garlic; season with ⅛ tsp each salt and pepper. Shape mixture into 2 patties.
- Grill patties, covered, 5 to 6 minutes per side or to desired doneness.
- Grill onion slices and pineapple 2 to 3 minutes per side or until browned.
- Stir together mashed avocado, cilantro, and lime juice; season with ⅛ tsp each salt and pepper.
- Spread avocado mixture on burgers. Top each with 1 pineapple ring, sliced ham, and grilled onion.
Side Dish Ingredients
- 1 cup organic strawberries, hulled
- 2 cups pineapple chunks
- ¼ cup vanilla Greek yogurt
- ½ to 1 cup ice cubes
Side Dish Instructions
- Combine strawberries, pineapple, and yogurt in a blender; add ½ cup ice. Process until smooth, adding a little water or more ice, as needed.
- Pour into glasses.
