Slow-Cooked Sweet and Sour Brisket

Ingredients

  • ¾ lb beef brisket, trimmed
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 small sweet onion, sliced
  • 1 (8-oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp molasses
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle brisket with salt and pepper.
  2. Place onion in a 4-quart slow cooker; place brisket over onion.
  3. Whisk together tomato sauce, molasses, and vinegar; pour over brisket. Cover and cook on LOW 8 hours or until brisket is tender.
  4. Slice brisket before serving.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 (12-oz) pkg green beans

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Bake sweet potato 30 minutes or until tender; peel potato and mash in a serving bowl. Stir in butter.
  2. Meanwhile, microwave green beans according to package directions.
  3. Season sweet potato and green beans with salt and pepper to taste.
