Seared Ham Steaks with Apples

Ingredients

  • 1 (1-lb) ham steak, cut into 3 pieces
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Gala apple, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced onion
  • ¼ cup gluten-free beef broth
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle ham with pepper. Cook in hot oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat 3 minutes per side; remove from skillet, and keep warm.
  2. Add apple and onion to skillet; reduce heat to medium. Sauté 5 minutes or until browned and tender.
  3. Return ham to skillet; add broth, mustard, and thyme. Simmer over medium heat 5 minutes or until liquid is thickened.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 1 (3-oz) pkg boil-in-bag multigrain medley rice mix
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • ½ tsp salt

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Cook rice mix according to package directions. Stir in green onion and salt.
