French Toast Breakfast Casserole
Smoky Brown Sugar Bacon and GrapesIngredients
- 1 (8-oz) block cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup strawberry jam
- 5 large eggs
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 (16-oz) loaf Challah bread, cubed
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1 (16-oz) pkg strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Whisk together cream cheese, milk, brown sugar, granulated sugar, jam, eggs, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Add bread; toss. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 2½-quart baking dish. Chill at least 8 hours or up to 2 days.
- Remove casserole from refrigerator, and let stand at room temperature 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Bake, covered, 20 minutes. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer or until center is set and bread is golden brown.
Side Dish Ingredients
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 (16-oz) pkg sliced bacon
- 1 lb seedless red grapes
Side Dish Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Stir together sugar and chili powder in a shallow bowl; dredge bacon in mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Arrange bacon in a single layer on a lightly greased wire rack on a foil-lined rimmed baking sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until crisp. Serve with grapes.
