Fire-Roasted Bolognese Penne

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 (16-oz) pkg ground pork sausage
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28-oz) can fire-roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (24-oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 (16-oz) pkg penne pasta
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded Italian-blend cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook beef and sausage in a large skillet over medium heat 10 minutes or until browned and crumbly. Drain well.
  2. Place beef mixture in a greased 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. Add onion, garlic, tomatoes, marinara sauce, and Italian seasoning; stir.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours.
  4. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and stir in oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve meat sauce over pasta; sprinkle with cheese.
