Salted Caramel Brownies
Ingredients
- 1½ cups butter, softened
- 1½ cups packed brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened baking cocoa
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 (4-oz) bar semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1 (12-oz) jar salted caramel topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F; line a 13- x 9-inch baking dish with foil, and coat with cooking spray.
- Beat butter and sugars in a large bowl with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
- Stir together flour, cocoa, and ¼ tsp salt in a medium bowl. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating until blended. Stir in melted chocolate.
- Reserve 1 ½ cups batter in a small bowl. Spread remaining batter in prepared pan.
- Bake 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven, and spread caramel topping over brownies. Dollop reserved batter over caramel.
- Return to oven, and bake 20 to 25 minutes longer or until center is set. Cool completely before cutting; sprinkle lightly with salt, if desired.
