French Grilled Cheese Sandwiches (Croque Monsieur)
Spinach and Raspberry Salad with Balsamic VinaigretteIngredients
- 3 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 12 slices sourdough bread
- 1 (9-oz) pkg sliced ham
- 1 (8-oz) pkg sliced Swiss cheese
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 3 Tbsp butter, divided
Instructions
- Stir together mustard and mayonnaise. Spread over 1 side of each bread slice.
- Top 6 bread slices with ham and cheese; cover with 6 bread slices, mustard sides down.
- Whisk together eggs and milk in a shallow bowl. Dip sandwiches in egg mixture to coat.
- Melt 1 Tbsp butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add 2 sandwiches to skillet, and cook 3 to 4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cheese is melted. Repeat procedure with remaining butter and sandwiches.
Side Dish Ingredients
- 2 (6-oz) pkg baby spinach
- 1 pint fresh raspberries
- ¾ cup balsamic vinaigrette
- ½ cup thinly sliced red onion
- ½ cup slivered almonds
Side Dish Instructions
- Toss together all ingredients in a large bowl just before serving.
