Classic Meat Loaf Burgers

Ingredients

  • ¾ lb ground beef (or use ground turkey)
  • ½ (6-oz) can tomato paste, divided
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • ⅓ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard, divided
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 2 hamburger buns
  • 3 leaves green leaf lettuce, shredded (or use iceberg lettuce)
  • 1 Roma tomato, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Stir together beef, 1 Tbsp tomato paste, egg, breadcrumbs, 1 Tbsp mustard, and Worcestershire. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Shape into 2 patties.
  2. Stir together sugar, lemon juice, 2 Tbsp tomato paste, and 1 Tbsp mustard in a small bowl.
  3. Cook patties in a skillet over medium heat 5 minutes. Flip patties, and brush with sugar mixture. Cook 5 minutes or until centers are no longer pink.
  4. Top burgers with cheese. Serve burgers on buns with lettuce and tomato.

  1. Bake potato wedges according to package directions.
