Pepper-Crusted Burgers

Ingredients

  • 4 (5.4-oz) ground beef patties
  • 1 Tbsp coarse-ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 4 slices fontina cheese
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 Tbsp whole-grain mustard
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • 4 leaves green leaf lettuce
  • 1 tomato, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle patties on all sides with pepper and salt. Cook patties in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no longer pink in centers. Top each patty with 1 slice cheese; let stand 1 minute or until melted.
  2. Meanwhile, stir together mayonnaise, mustard, basil, and lemon zest; spread on cut sides of buns. Top with patties, lettuce, and tomato.
