French Onion Salisbury Steaks

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 (8-count) pkg frozen Texas cheese garlic toast

Instructions

  1. Shape beef into 6 patties; season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook patties in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain skillet, reserving 1 Tbsp drippings in skillet. Add onions to drippings; cook over medium heat 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and tomato paste; cook 2 minutes. Sprinkle flour over onions; cook, stirring, 2 minutes.
  3. Add broth, thyme, and patties to skillet; bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  4. Bake cheese toast according to package directions; divide among 6 shallow bowls. Place 1 patty on each piece of toast; ladle soup and onion mixture over patties.

  • 1 lb thin green beans, trimmed
  • ¼ cup butter

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Steam green beans in a steamer basket set over simmering water until crisp-tender. Transfer to a bowl, and toss with butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
