Bacon-Apple Turkey Burgers
Smoky Brussels SproutsIngredients
- 2 slices uncured bacon
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 small red apple, finely chopped (a sweet, crisp variety)
- ¼ tsp garlic salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 Tbsp chopped fresh basil
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 Tbsp avocado oil
Instructions
- Cook bacon in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat 5 minutes or until crisp; drain, reserving drippings in skillet. Finely crumble bacon.
- Sauté onion, apple, garlic salt, and pepper in hot drippings 7 minutes or until apple is soft; remove from heat, and cool.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Combine turkey, basil, egg yolk, onion mixture, and bacon in a bowl. Shape into 4 (½-inch-thick) patties, about ½ cup each.
- Grill patties, covered, on a grill rack rubbed with oil 5 to 6 minutes per side or until no longer pink.

- ¾ lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- ½ Tbsp avocado oil
- 2 Tbsp water
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ¼ tsp smoked paprika
Side Dish Instructions
- Cook Brussels sprouts in hot oil in a skillet 3 minutes or until sprouts begin to brown.
- Add water. Cover and cook 2 minutes or until tender; drain. Toss sprouts with salt, pepper, and paprika.
