Salted Caramel Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups butter, softened
  • 1½ cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 (4-oz) bar semisweet chocolate, melted
  • 1 (11.5-oz) jar salted caramel ice cream topping
  • Kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F; line a 13- x 9-inch baking dish with foil, and coat with cooking spray.
  2. Beat butter and sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer at medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
  3. Stir together flour, cocoa, and salt in a medium bowl. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating until blended. Stir in melted chocolate.
  4. Reserve 1½ cups batter in a small bowl. Spread remaining batter into prepared pan, and bake 25 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven, and spread caramel topping over partially-baked brownies. Dollop reserved batter over caramel.
  6. Bake 20 to 25 minutes longer or until center is set. Cool completely before cutting; sprinkle with salt, if desired.
