Grilled Korean Skirt Steak

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp dark sesame oil
  • 1½ tsp ginger paste
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 2 small cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small shallot, sliced
  • 1 lb skirt steak (or use flank steak)
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 1½ tsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Combine soy sauce, honey, oils, ginger, salt, pepper, garlic, and shallot in a zip-top plastic bag. Add steak; toss to coat. Let stand 15 minutes. Remove steak from marinade, reserving marinade.
  3. Grill, covered, 4 to 6 minutes per side or to desired doneness. Let stand 10 minutes before thinly slicing across the grain.
  4. Meanwhile, bring marinade to a boil in a saucepan over high heat; cook 2 minutes .
  5. Drizzle over steak; sprinkle with onion and sesame seeds.

  • 3 Tbsp lime juice
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • ⅛ tsp pepper
  • ½ (16-oz) pkg tricolor coleslaw
  • ½ Granny Smith apple, cut into matchsticks
  • ½ cup very thinly sliced red onion
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh mint

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Whisk together oil, lime juice, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Add coleslaw, apple, onion, and mint; toss.
