Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 (8-oz) pkg sliced mushrooms
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Madeira
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups beef broth

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add mushrooms, shallot, and garlic. Cook, stirring frequently, 15 minutes or until mushrooms are tender.
  2. Add wine, and cook 5 minutes or until liquid is almost evaporated. Add flour, and cook, stirring, 2 minutes.
  3. Add broth, and cook, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until gravy is thickened and bubbly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
