Ingredients
- ½ onion, chopped
- ½ lb ground round
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 (14.5-oz) can BPA-free organic whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
- 1 (8-oz) can BPA-free organic tomato sauce
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- ¼ tsp ground cumin
- 1 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Cook onion and beef in hot oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until onion is tender and beef is browned and crumbly.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, and cumin. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes. Top with cilantro.

- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 1 (4-oz) hoagie roll (preferably whole wheat), halved lengthwise
Side Dish Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine oil, garlic, oregano, and pepper in a small bowl; brush onto cut sides of roll. Bake 5 to 10 minutes or until toasted.
