Ingredients

  • ½ onion, chopped
  • ½ lb ground round
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 (14.5-oz) can BPA-free organic whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
  • 1 (8-oz) can BPA-free organic tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • ¼ tsp ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Cook onion and beef in hot oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until onion is tender and beef is browned and crumbly.
  2. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, and cumin. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes. Top with cilantro.

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 (4-oz) hoagie roll (preferably whole wheat), halved lengthwise

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine oil, garlic, oregano, and pepper in a small bowl; brush onto cut sides of roll. Bake 5 to 10 minutes or until toasted.
