Slow Cooker Christmas Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients

  •  1 (16-oz) pkg ground pork sausage
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 (26-oz) pkg frozen shredded hash browns
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 12 large eggs
  • 1¼ cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt (or use salt)
  • ¾ tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring 8 to 10 minutes or until browned and crumbly; drain well.
  2. Combine bell pepper and onion.
  3. Place one-third of hash browns in a 5- or 6-quart slow cooker sprayed with cooking spray; top with one-third each of sausage, bell pepper mixture, and cheese. Repeat layers twice.
  4. Whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour over layers in cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours or until eggs are set.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 1 (23-oz) jar cinnamon applesauce, chilled
