Smothered Steak

Steamed Rice and Lemon-Butter Broccoli

Ingredients

  • 2 lb round steak, thinly sliced
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 2 green bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 (8-oz) pkg whole mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 (14.5-oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Stir together steak, flour, salt, and pepper in a 5- to 7-quart slow cooker. Top with bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, and soy sauce.
  2. Cover and cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours or until beef is tender. Serve over rice.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 1 (16-oz) pkg frozen broccoli florets
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Cook rice according to package directions.
  2. Cook broccoli according to package directions. Drain and toss with butter and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
