Onion-Topped Sausage and Potato Casserole
Steamed Green BeansIngredients
- 1 (16-oz) pkg ground Italian sausage
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 (14.5-oz) cans fire-roasted diced tomatoes with garlic
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp dried basil
- 1 (24-oz) pkg refrigerated garlic mashed potatoes
- 1 (8-oz) pkg shredded Italian-blend cheese
- ¼ tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 cup French fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Cook sausage and onion in a large skillet over medium heat until sausage is browned and crumbly; drain well, and return to skillet.
- Add tomatoes, garlic powder, and basil; cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon into a lightly greased 11-x 7-inch baking dish.
- Stir together potatoes, cheese, and Italian seasoning. Mixture will be dry. Spoon over sausage mixture.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Top with fried onions, and bake 5 minutes longer.

- Steam green beans according to package directions; season with salt and pepper to taste.
