Ingredients

  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ lb skirt steak (or use flank steak)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Whisk together sugar, vinegar, oil, Worcestershire, and garlic in a bowl. Rub sugar mixture all over steak. Let stand 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat broiler. Sprinkle steak with salt and pepper. Broil 4 to 6 minutes per side or to desired doneness. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes before slicing across the grain.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 2½ lb parsnips, peeled and sliced
  • ½ cup water
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh rosemary (or use 1 Tbsp dried crushed rosemary)
  • ¾ tsp salt, divided
  • ¾ tsp pepper, divided
  • 2 (12-oz) pkg green beans

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Microwave parsnips and water in a large microwave-safe bowl, covered, at HIGH 5 to 7 minutes or until parsnips are tender; drain and cool slightly.
  2. Transfer parsnips to a food processor; add butter, rosemary, and ½ tsp each salt and pepper. Process to desired consistency, scraping sides as needed. Serve with additional chopped rosemary, if desired.
  3. Meanwhile, cook green beans according to package directions. Sprinkle with ¼ tsp each salt and pepper.
