Broccoli-Cauliflower Gratin
Ingredients
- 8 cups broccoli florets
- 8 cups cauliflower florets
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 (8-oz) round brie cheese, rind removed
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Bring broccoli, cauliflower, and water to cover to a boil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer 8 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Drain well, and spoon into a lightly greased 3-quart baking dish.
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Melt butter in same Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes. Add flour; cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes.
- Gradually add milk, whisking until blended. Cook, whisking occasionally, until mixture is thickened and bubbly.
- Meanwhile, cut cheese into cubes. Gradually add cheese, stirring until melted. Stir in sour cream, salt and pepper until blended. Spoon mixture over vegetables in baking dish. Sprinkle with panko.
- Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
