Upside Down Shepherd's Pie
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 (0.87-oz) pkg brown gravy mix
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup softened butter
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into 6 thick slices
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 2 (4-oz) packets dry mashed potatoes
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350°F. Cook beef in a large skillet over medium heat 8 minutes or until browned and crumbly; drain.
- Make broth with 2 cups boiling water and 2 beef bouillon cubes; set aside.
- Return beef to skillet, and stir in vegetables, gravy mix, 1⅔ cups broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until thickened.
- Spread butter over sliced bread and sprinkle with garlic salt. Bake 5 minutes on an open rack in oven until toasted.
- Make potatoes according to package directions.
- Arrange toast on each serving plate. Spoon potatoes over toast; spoon beef mixture over potatoes.
