Tex-Mex Patty Melts

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, softened and divided
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 (7-oz) can chopped green chiles
  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • 12 slices Texas toast
  • 12 slices pepper-Jack cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt 2 Tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add onion, and cook, stirring occasionally, until onion is tender and golden brown. Stir in chiles.
  2. Meanwhile, stir together beef and Worcestershire in a large bowl; shape into 6 thin patties, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook patties in a large skillet over medium heat until done; remove from skillet, and wipe skillet clean.
  4. Spread mayonnaise on 1 side of each toast slice. Top 6 slices each with 1 slice cheese, patty, onion mixture, and another slice cheese. Cover with 6 bread slices, mayonnaise side down.
  5. Spread outsides of sandwiches with 6 Tbsp butter. Cook sandwiches, in batches, in skillet over medium heat until golden brown.

  • 1 (32-oz) pkg frozen crinkle cut French fries

  1. Bake fries according to package directions.
