Tex-Mex Patty Melts

Ingredients
- ½ cup butter, softened and divided
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 1 (7-oz) can chopped green chiles
- 2 lb ground beef
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¾ cup mayonnaise
- 12 slices Texas toast
- 12 slices pepper-Jack cheese
Instructions
- Melt 2 Tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add onion, and cook, stirring occasionally, until onion is tender and golden brown. Stir in chiles.
- Meanwhile, stir together beef and Worcestershire in a large bowl; shape into 6 thin patties, and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook patties in a large skillet over medium heat until done; remove from skillet, and wipe skillet clean.
- Spread mayonnaise on 1 side of each toast slice. Top 6 slices each with 1 slice cheese, patty, onion mixture, and another slice cheese. Cover with 6 bread slices, mayonnaise side down.
- Spread outsides of sandwiches with 6 Tbsp butter. Cook sandwiches, in batches, in skillet over medium heat until golden brown.
