Tres Leches Cake

Ingredients
- 2 cups butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar, divided
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 (14-oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 (16-oz) carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F. Beat butter, 1 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar in a large bowl with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Whisk together condensed milk, milk and vanilla in a bowl. Gradually add flour to butter mixture, alternately with milk mixture, beginning and ending with flour, beating just until combined after each addition.
- Pour batter into a greased 13-x 9-inch pan. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Using a wooden skewer, poke holes in warm cake at ½-inch intervals.
- Combine water and 1 cup sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Gradually stir in cream.
- Slowly pour cream mixture over top of cake. Let cake cool completely in pan.
- Spread whipped topping over cake before serving. Store in refrigerator.
