Fresh Lime Margaritas

Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1½ cups silver tequila
  • ¾ cup triple sec
  • ¾ cup lime juice (about 8 limes; or see Note)
  • 1 lime, cut into 6 wedges
  • 4 Tbsp kosher salt
  • Cubed ice
  • 1 liter club soda, chilled

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, and let cool 15 minutes. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled.
  2. Stir together sugar syrup, tequila, triple sec and lime juice in a pitcher.
  3. Moisten rim of each glass with a lime wedge.
  4. Place salt on a small plate. Holding each glass upside down, dip rim into salt mixture. Add desired amount of cubed ice.
  5. Pour margarita mixture into each glass, filling three-fourths full. Top off each glass with club soda.
