Smothered Turkey Burgers

Ingredients

  • ¾ lb ground turkey
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • ½ Tbsp Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil, divided
  • 1 (8-oz) pkg sliced mushrooms
  • ½ red onion, sliced
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • 1 apple, chopped (such as Granny Smith)
  • 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  1. Combine turkey, flour, seasoning, egg, and salt in a large bowl. Shape into 2 patties.
  2. Cook patties in 1 Tbsp hot oil per batch in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes per side or until no longer pink in centers. Remove from skillet, and keep warm.
  3. Cook mushrooms, onion, and thyme in 1 Tbsp hot oil in skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until just tender.
  4. Add apples; cook, stirring occasionally, 3 minutes. Stir in vinegar. Serve mushroom mixture over burgers.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 1 large organic russet potato, cut into wedges
  • 1 Tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Toss together all ingredients; place on a greased rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, turning occasionally, or until potatoes are browned and tender.
