Cheesy Sausage Calzones

Ingredients

  • ½ (16-oz) pkg ground mild Italian sausage
  • 1 (14-oz) jar pizza sauce, divided
  • 1 (13.8-oz) can refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbly; drain and return to skillet.
  2. Unroll dough, and divide into 2 portions. Spoon about 3 Tbsp sauce over 1 side of each portion. Top with sausage, and sprinkle each with cheese. Fold dough over filling, pressing edges to seal. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  3. Brush calzones with beaten egg. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Slice, and serve with remaining pizza sauce, for dipping.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 1 (10-oz) pkg chopped romaine lettuce
  • ¼ cup creamy Italian dressing
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ (5-oz) pkg garlic-butter croutons

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Toss together all ingredients just before serving.
