Apple-Pecan Dressing

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-oz) loaf sourdough bread, cubed
  • 6 Tbsp butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups sliced celery
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, chopped
  • 1½ cups chopped pecans
  • 2 tsp minced fresh thyme
  • 2 tsp minced fresh sage
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place bread cubes on a rimmed baking sheet; bake 10 to 15 minutes or until crisp.
  2. Meanwhile, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add onion and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender. Spoon into a large bowl.
  3. Add apples, nuts, thyme, sage, salt, pepper, and toasted bread cubes; toss.
  4. Whisk together eggs and broth in a bowl; add to bread mixture, stirring until blended.
  5. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Bake 45 to 55 minutes or until center is set and top is golden brown.
