Sausage and Tomato Drop Biscuits

Ingredients
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup cold fat-free buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp butter, melted
- ½ cup shredded 75% reduced-fat Cheddar cheese
- ½ lb lean turkey breakfast sausage, cut into 6 slices
- 1 large tomato, cut into 6 slices
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together both flours, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add buttermilk and butter; stir just until moistened. Gently stir in cheese. Drop dough onto baking sheet in 6 (¼-cup) mounds.
- Bake 10 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Meanwhile, cook sausage according to package directions.
- Cut biscuits in half horizontally. Top bottom halves with sausage and tomatoes; cover with biscuit tops.
