Meyer Lemon-Sage Presse



  • ⅓ cup plus 2 Tbsp sugar, divided
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 5 fresh sage leaves
  • ¼ cup Meyer lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp alcohol-free white wine
  • 2 Tbsp sparkling water
  • Garnish: fresh sage leaf


  1. Bring ⅓ cup sugar, water, and sage leaves to a boil over medium heat in a small saucepan. Reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat; cool to room temperature. Strain into a shallow bowl.
  2. Place 2 Tbsp sugar in a shallow bowl. Dip rim of glass in cooled syrup, and then dip in sugar to coat rim.
  3. Combine lemon juice and 2 Tbsp prepared syrup in a glass; stir. Top with wine and sparkling water. Garnish, if desired.
