Ingredients
- 6 Italian dinner sausage links (sweet or hot)
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 small green bell peppers, sliced lengthwise
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 6 hoagie rolls, split
- 2 Tbsp butter, softened
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Score sausages at 1-inch intervals with a sharp knife. Cook sausages in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat 12 minutes or until browned all over and done. Remove sausages from skillet; cover to keep warm.
- Add onion to drippings in skillet; sauté over medium-high heat 2 to 3 minutes. Add bell peppers, salt, sugar, and Italian seasoning. Sauté 5 minutes. Add sausages to skillet. Cover and cook until thoroughly heated.
- Meanwhile, place rolls, cut sides up, on a baking sheet. Butter rolls; bake 2 to 4 minutes until toasted. Add sausage to each roll; top with onion mixture, and sprinkle with cheese. Bake 2 to 3 minutes to melt cheese.
Side Dish Ingredients
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (13.5-oz) pkg ridged potato chips
- 1 lb seedless red grapes
Side Dish Instructions
- Heat cream in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add half of cheese; mash and stir with a wooden spoon until blended and melted.
- Add Worcestershire, and stir in remaining cheese. Cook about 1 minute, leaving some chunks of cheese for thickness.
- Serve chips and grapes on each plate. Drizzle blue cheese sauce over chips or serve on the side.
