Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy

Ingredients

  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 sleeves saltine crackers, crushed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1½ Tbsp seasoned salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 2 lb cubed steak, cut into 6 portions
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 (2.64-oz) pkg country gravy mix

Instructions

  1. Whisk together milk and eggs in a shallow dish. Stir together crushed crackers, flour, seasoned salt, and pepper in a separate shallow dish.
  2. Dip steak in milk mixture, letting excess drip off; dredge in cracker mixture to coat. Place on a wire rack set over a foil-lined baking sheet. Let stand 20 minutes to set crust.
  3. Pour oil to a depth of ½ inch in a deep skillet; heat over medium-high heat to 360˚F. Fry steaks, in batches, 4 to 6 minutes per side or until golden brown and done.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare gravy according to package directions. Serve over steaks.

Side Dish Ingredients

  • 2 lb Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 2 (14.5-oz) cans green beans

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Combine potatoes and water to cover in a large saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes or until tender.
  2. Drain and return potatoes to pot. Add milk and butter; mash to desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper, if desired.
  3. Meanwhile, cook green beans according to package directions. Season with salt and pepper, if desired.
